question concerning timelines
If the timelines for the service or filing of any materials are prescribed by a federal statute such as the Criminal Code, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, or the Extradition Act, the parties can expect that the Court will grant an extension to the timeline unless a party shows cause why an extension should not be granted. This does not apply, however, to the Crown where it is serving a notice of appeal. See question 21 for information on how to apply for an extension in one of these cases.
If the extension does not apply but one is granted by the Court, the extension begins on the date specified by the Court.
